Learning to Pray
Prayer is not a performance, a formula, or a way to impress God. It is how ordinary people speak honestly to a gracious God. In this five-week study, we will examine forms of prayer that are both structured and unstructured but not exhaustive. This study is rooted in scripture and our need of grace.
First, this study is not an exhaustive examination of prayer. The study of prayer is a practice disciples undertake throughout a lifetime of faith. This study will be both theoretical and practical. Participants will be invited to experiment with a type of prayer between sessions and reflect upon their experience. The goal of this study is twofold: to better understand the nature of prayer and to equip participants to engage in a prayerful Lenten practice.
