Walker Chapel is home to a nonprofit preschool program founded in 1970 as part of the church’s outreach efforts. The program continues to serve in that capacity, and is administered by an advisory committee of parents, preschool staff and church members.
The preschool fosters social, emotional, educational and physical development through both unstructured and organized play. The curriculum includes music, movement, science, French and other enrichment programs. Parents help run the program through classroom opportunities and participation in the Parents’ Committee.
The teachers and assistants have extensive experience and meet the requirements for certification by Virginia and Arlington County, are certified in first aid and CPR, and keep current in their fields through courses, workshops and conferences.
There are classes for two, three, and four-year-old children. Preference in registration is given to Walker Chapel families and to those with a sibling already in the program.
